Devlog 2: Art Build
Looking at the feedback people seemed to enjoy the art direction of the game so I leaned into it with the PSX/PS1 aesthetic. Through this build I tried to maintain this aesthetic I think in general it was successful. I didn't make any big changes to mechanics or story in this build although I am thinking of how to make the work mechanic more engaging. The art in general I think is great I found this free asset pack from elbolilloduro's itch which I enjoyed a lot and was free. It also helped that because of his username I immediately knew he was a fellow Mexican. I also found some psx ps1 style buildings that also fit with the aesthetic of the game. Since it was mainly environment art just placing assets and making sure textures and collision where working fine I worked entirely in engine. I also created a window by scratch in godot which I enjoy how it turned out. I also found out that my psx shader works weirdly with the psx assetpack. I plan to use it mainly for characters now. I want to add more post prossesing to hide the imperfections in the environment art since the shader was doing weird stuff. Now that the assets are in game I plan to focus on expanding dialogue and puzzles.
